Journal Entry Sunday August 16, 2026

Last night I was up late because I took another late night nap.

The Sixth Sense was on the T.V. channel I was watching. I love M Knight Shyamalan movies. Well, not Old, but all his other movies.

I started thinking about horror and horror movies. I know this movie is not considered a horror movie, but what made me start thinking about this was the scene where Haley Joel Osmet and Bruce Willis are at the funeral of the little girl played by Mischa Barton.

At my first watch of this movie of course I wondered why no one noticed that Willis was there. At this point we as viewers don’t know yet that Willis is one of the ghosts.

After that first watch though what I watched for at the funeral was all the people not even noticing Willis there, because then I knew. There is also the color red used throughout that signifies things going unnoticed or something I don’t remember.

In this scene the mother of Barton is aflame in red, while the other funeral goers are not. Osmet fulfills the wish of delivering a video that Barton made to her father which shows her mother poisoning Barton’s character. She had asked Osmet to do this because mommy dearest was poisoning the little sister also.

That is the horror. The mother killed her daughter and was attempting to kill her other daughter. That is horrific.

I had never put it together before but reading the horror novels I have been lately, the ones that ring true to me are the ones where it’s not slashers all the way through or demons from hell but just plain old boring humans.

Which is considered thriller not horror, which has always been strange reasoning to me. Humans can and sometimes will me as horrific or more horrific than monsters. Think of every serial killer that has ever lived.

Humans can also think horrific things and go through horrific things.

For me the most horrific thing I have ever been through is child birth. I did this three different times.

Lots of things come out of your body while giving birth. You are given something for the pain, but you can still feel everything. Mainly it’s just pressure but it’s not at all pleasant with or without the pain. You feel your perineum tear you hear things pop and gush and you feel the pressure of all of this while that baby is squeezing it’s way out.

Then depending on how big that kids head was, you will have stiches down there that burn every time you pee. Also there is this really strange pulling sensation that you feel and pain shoots up your leg if you step wrong or move too fast. That lasts for at least a month sometimes more.

I know I will get flack for this, because I have before, because there are people out there that say everything about child birth is beautiful. That is fine you can think that way, for me none of it was beautiful. The beautiful thing came after it was all over.

Ok, so I went deep, that is how my brain works late at night.

That is all for me today. Everyone enjoy your Sunday.
