Have you ever had something in your house for so long that you forgot it existed.

Years ago sometime after Christmas I was shopping at Joann’s, when the cashier finished ringing me up she said pick a gift from the table in the middle, and she pointed.

To our right were three tables. We walked to the middle table and there was this shiny gold owl made out of tinsel. I love owls, so that’s what I picked.

It moved around the house a few times before it ended up in the kitchen window where I see it multiple times a day.

Fast forward two or three years and my son and I start visiting thrift stores and sometimes antique malls. Whenever I would see an owl figurine I would buy it and I started a little owl menagerie.

After I added the three white owls I had my son come look at my collection. He said, ‘you should put the owl in the window there.’

I replied, ‘what owl? What window?’

He looks at me with that mom has finally gone crazy look and says, ‘the owl in the kitchen window.’

Still not believing him I go and look because I need to see this owl for myself and there is that shiny, gold, tinsel owl. I say ‘oh, that owl. I forgot about that one.’

I forgot that owl existed and I see it every day.

I didn’t move it to my collection though. I don’t know why.
