My birthday is Saturday.

That’s why I took this staycation. My dearly beloved Dan got me an owl clock that I have to assemble myself and an owl blanket.

That sounds sarcastic but it’s not.

I love putting things together. Whenever we buy furniture that needs to be assembled, I happily put it together. A few years ago, I bought my oldest son a three-wheeled bike, and I put it together.

It’s actually the perfect gift for me, and when I’m gone, I’ll either have an owl clock that ticks and tells the time, or I’ll just have a cool-looking owl to add to my collection.

Either way, it’s a win-win.

I have also been doing the deep cleaning things I said I was going to do in the lead up to this week.

Saturday, my oldest son and I cleaned out his closet. Yesterday, I cleaned out the linen closet and the towel closet. Then I took all the clothes from my son’s closet, as well as the sheets and blankets, and donated them to Goodwill.

Today I am going to clean out the kitchen cabinets and the odds and ends that have ended up with no homes in the living room. After that and a long nap, I am going to finish the owl clock.

I am just so normal, huh?
