Ok enough, I’ve had ENOUGH!
I’m not going through more months, weeks, days of this crap. I can’t. I’ve had enough.
My old co-worker Greg called me back, thankfully, and I told him everything, EVERYTHING.
“Oh my god,” Greg said when I was done. “You know what? Let’s go to their apartment.”
“Yes,” I said. “Let’s go.”
I told Dan what we were going to do, and he said he was coming with me. He said I couldn’t stop him, always the hero. That’s alright, I thought there was strength in numbers.
That evening, we met my former co-worker Greg in the parking lot of my old apartment complex.
Carla and Alex’s apartment was in the building next to the one I formerly occupied. If you walked down the stairs and to the left, you would be looking in my living room window.
“How long did she live here?” I asked Greg.
“She lived here for probably about 10 years. Alex moved in later.” He squinted and looked at me, “You didn’t know?”
All I could do was shake my head. I know I shouldn’t be shocked after all that happened, but I was shocked.
“She said y’all hung out,” he said, looking down at the ground. “She said she would walk over to your apartment and sometimes spend the night. None of that was true?”
Again, all I could do was shake my head.
I never knew either one of them was so close for so long. I lived there for eight years, from 2009 to 2017, and never once did I see either Carla or Alex.
