Happy April Fools Day!

Yesterday I did everything in my planner. Or did I?

Ha Ha! April Fools!

Just kidding I did it all for real, or did I?

Ok I’ll stop, but I did really clean. There was something stinky in the laundry room. It smelled really bad. We were thinking something died in the attic.

It smelled really bad.

Years ago I made these rugs that were originally supposed to be blankets out of really thick yarn by knitting with my arms. The yarn was like $30 a skein and I couldn’t afford to buy enough to make a blanket so, they were rugs for our laundry room.

We are getting to the smell, promise, this is not an April Fools joke.

Saturday I told my oldest son he needed to wash his blankets. He did, but the washing machine hoses were moving the cold water valve and kept turning the cold water to the machine off, this would cause the washer to error.

At some point my oldest took the blankets out while the washer was full of water and doused the laundry room with water. My middle son and I cleaned up all the water, I got on to my oldest son and put the blankets back in the washer, then we moved on with life.

Now we are on Sunday.

I went in the laundry room to do some laundry and noticed a slight whiff of something rank, but it wasn’t a strong rank smell, just a whiff. I shook it off and moved on, later I went back and it was a full on, knock you down and make you forget about dinner awful smell.

Dan and I tried to locate the source, but to no avail. We closed the door and decided to deal with it Monday, and went to bed.

Now it’s Monday.

I wanted to wash my sheets and blankets, I opened the door to the laundry room and the smell was so much worse than the night before.

I washed my sheets and blankets during breaks at work while simultaneously trying to figure out the smell. The weird thing was it seemed to only like the laundry room. I left the door open and burned some incense in there, but the smell stayed in that room. It didn’t really waft anywhere else.

After work, I took a nap. I woke up at 3 am yesterday, give me a break.

When I woke up, I decided to clean the laundry room.

Remember the big yarn, arm knitted rugs?

Well one we took out and hung on the rails in the back yard to dry, the other we left in the laundry room. I pulled it up off the floor and the bottom of it was soaking wet and, almost made me pass out, that was the smell.

It is now hanging on the rails to dry in the back yard, but they are both going to the trash.

That is the story of the smelly laundry room. It was a good thing though because it forced me to clean in there and throw out some cleaning implements that we just never used.

So something good came from the bad smell.
