A long time ago I struggled with acceptance. I needed people to give me compliments or I felt like no one liked me, or they thought I was weird or crazy.
I acted like someone who was not me and never felt like I fit in, because I needed compliments to survive.
This was also tied to a toxic relationship I had for 13 years that was verbally abusive and I never felt like I did anything right.
That relationship ended and everything changed for me. I went back to college and started writing for my college newspaper and I received awards for my writing. I did all that just being my true self. That was the best compliment.
Now I live my life for myself.
I don’t care if I’m not accepted by everyone and if I’m being honest I don’t care if people don’t like me, that’s on them, not me.
I also learned through that journey that no one has everything figured out, there are always questions and opportunities to learn. Even the most put together person you know struggles with something.
That’s all for today. I’m glad you are here. While you are here check out some of my other blog posts.
