Computers and cell phones

The most important invention in your lifetime is…

I remember being a kid and playing outside from the time the sun came up until the sun went down. I also never wore shoes. I had the toughest feet ever.

I also remember having to wait at home for some one to call, this drove me crazy when I got older because I had to wait for friends to call to say they were on their way over or coming to pick me up, if you were out and you missed the call some one would have to take a message for you or the would leave one on the answering machine.

Also we would watch TV at night with our family. If the episode ended with a cliffhanger we all had to wait until the next week to watch the show again. On Saturdays there were cartoons in the morning on every local channel so I would look in the TV guide to find the one I wanted to watch and I would go back and forth between the channels. Unless one of my sisters were there then I had to watch whatever stupid show they were watching.

Computers and cell phones were not a thing until I was a grown up, but they are the most significant because they changed the way of life for every person in all reaches of the world. There are kids growing up now who don’t know anything else. These are the ones who now film everything their whole life and kids lives recorded with a cell phone.

My kids spend a lot of time on their phones and computers also, they come out to go to work or school or you know, when dinner is ready.

All of this seems so weird to me and I think it’s all just because of the way these two things have changed the way we live so much. I do have a smart phone that I always keep with me but if I am working or out with my family I don’t answer it, I also don’t call people much. I actually use the phone less now than I did in the days before cell phones.

Well everyone be safe today and go outside where there is sun and nature.
