Name an attraction or town close to home that you still haven’t got around to visiting.
The Reunion Tower and the State Fair of Texas.
I’ve lived in Texas my whole life and I’ve never been to the state fair. When my sister and I were younger my dad didn’t want to go because it is in Dallas and he said Dallas was a city full of crime and he was worried about our safety. Now that I’m an adult, I just don’t want to, it’s also pretty expensive. The state fair is at fair park and I’ve been there for a couple of events. I’ve just never been there when the state fair is happening.
Now, the Reunion Tower is what it sounds like. It’s a big tower with a ball on top that rotates. It is also in Dallas. Inside the rotating ball is a restaurant that is pretty famous, but also fancy which means expensive. You can see it when you drive into Dallas. My youngest son went there on a field trip, he had a sandwich. What’s funny is I was dating a guy from Oklahoma many years ago and he had just moved to Dallas. He wanted to go to the Reunion Tower so bad. I kept telling him it was just for tourists and the only thing there was a restaurant, he didn’t believe me and spent several weeks looking for an apartment in the Reunion Tower. That relationship didn’t last long :).
I will probably never go to either one of these things because there are so many other places in Texas that are worth seeing. Eisenhower State Park is awesome and Lake Texoma is there so you get to see two cool things. The Old Zoo in Cisco is cool, it is what it says, an old zoo. You can walk through the old animal enclosures and there are hiking trails. Those are just two there are so many more.
So if you are coming to visit I’ll tell you all the places I’ve been that I think are cool, but if you are coming to see the state fair or Reunion Tower, I can’t help you.
