You know what I was thinking about yesterday?
Don’t you hate it when people ask that? Like you can read their minds.
Any way, I was thinking about Daylight Savings time and I wondered if it used to be longer.
I researched this because I was so curious and I knew if I didn’t it would be the worm wiggling through my brain for months. Ok maybe just weeks.
So first I looked up why it was started.
https://usafacts.org/articles/why-does-daylight-saving-time-exist/
Basically it was started in 1918 during World War 1 so people could work longer during daylight hours and burn less fuel. It has also been started and repealed a couple of times.
As for if it used to be longer here is how I found out, I started with my birth year 1976
In 1976 it started on April 25, and ended on October 29, Daylight Savings Time was 6 months long that year.
Then I added 20 years so 1996, DST started on April 7, and ended on October 27, so, 6 months again.
Another 20 years, 2016, DST started on March 13, and ended on November 6, it was eight months in 2016.
Since 20 years from 2016 is 2036 and we haven’t made it there yet I looked up last year. In 2025 DST started on March 9, and ended on November 2.
I was wrong. It used to be shorter. How about that.
Well, that is all for me today. Everyone enjoy Saturday.
