Here we go, gotta love the cold weather. One thing about living in Texas and no where else my entire life is this only happens for the few weeks in January and February when the temperatures drop.

I know it’s not a fever, but it is going to go up from there and I am going to slowly feel more and more miserable.

Does anyone else get excited when they get a new package of colored pencils, markers or pens? Or is that just me?

I have been that way since I was a child. I found a journal entry from when I was 10 or 11 at my mom’s house once. I had just won one of those colored pencils that had a tip inside the pencil that was a different color.

So you take the tip off, then you pull off a cap on the end, put the tip back in replace the cap and then you have a new tip with a different color.

We did these journal entries in class and I had just won this pencil and I was writing each word of my journal in a different color. We only had to write a paragraph over some topic my teacher put on the board but it was taking me a long time because it took a minute to get each color out and you had to replace the cap at the end each time because if you didn’t the colors would slide up and out and you couldn’t write with it, so it took me awhile.

Everyone was getting restless and I remember one girl saying ‘this is ridiculous we have to wait for her because she wants to write in a different color?’

The teacher I had that year was great though and she was patient and shushed people and let me do my thing. All in all they only had to wait about two minutes.

I feel like most people, not all, that lived in the town I grew up in, grew up with no imagination. Either they followed the crowd and became cheerleaders or jocks or smart kids, or they were like me and didn’t want to be included in all that school spirit stuff.

I think a lot of them also didn’t have the family life that I had, my parents did their best, that’s all I can say.

However, now I am an adult and none of that matters anymore and I still use every single color out of a box of markers, pens or pencils whenever I get a new one.
