The way I write when I write on paper (important later,) and the old man who always complains when I talk too much in the mornings.
Friday went by fast and honestly I didn’t do much.
I cleaned and ate leftover thanksgiving for lunch then I took a nap.
When I woke up my youngest and oldest were home so I took them both to Michaels to get sketchbooks my oldest also got some colored pencils.
When we got home I watched a little T.V. then I made baked potatoes for dinner.
Then I curled up with Frankenstein and read until I fell asleep.
Today I’m not sure what I am going to do but I need to do something because I am patiently impatiently waiting for my Kindle Scribe.
I have been looking at these for awhile and I have been putting off getting one because they are really expensive and I already made a $600 mistake with the ReMarkable tablet.
So two years ago I bought this thing with the notion that I could download books to it, and also be able to take notes while I’m reading or if I have an idea for a story I can open up the notebook part of it and jot down the idea then go back to reading.
I don’t know what made me think you could download books to the ReMarkable before I bought it because I do extensive research on all things high priced that I purchase but alas, when it came it was just a writing tablet.
I thought Ok, that’s fine, I can still use it to write and it did have cool features like you can send the notes you write on it to Word on your computer and you can convert to text first and all of this will save me lots of time.
It did not save me any time, it added more time.
One, converting my scrawl to text never converted correctly. The thing got entire sentences wrong. Not just one word, all the words. Sometimes only one sentence in the entire thing I wrote would be correct.
So, ok no big deal when I transfer it to my computer I can just type over the incorrect words and fix it quickly. Nope. The formatting for word was never correct and if it would transfer at all it would be those code hieroglyphs that would pop up and nothing would make sense or there would be words with the hieroglyphs mixed in and you couldn’t get in the document and edit.
I chatted with a very friendly customer service rep to try to fix it but she couldn’t figure out what was happening and eventually I figured out that it would need to be uploaded to adobe first to be a PDF and then I could transfer it to Word. I don’t have Adobe I just have Word.
How does that save any time you ask? It does not save any time I answer.
That was my $600 mistake.
So now I have the Kindle Scribe coming and I am hoping that it is better and it might be, however if it is not it already has a lot of features the ReMarkable doesn’t and also I paid $400 less for it so that is a happy enough difference for me.
That is all for me today friends. Everyone Enjoy your Saturday.
