So, Yesterday was a day.
It started with the team huddle from work and got weirder from there.
I came to the team huddle a little late and my supervisor was talking to another of my team members about his job at The Melting Pot, because I guess he works there also. My supervisor then asks if any of us have ever been there and I say, “The one in (I’m not going to say the city but it’s a big Texas one.)? Where they feed homeless people?”
Everyone laughed.
I used to be a dispatcher for this city’s police department. When I would work the day shift we got many calls at The Melting Pot for fights. Usually it was over someone cutting in line while they were waiting for food. After it became an almost daily issue they made it an off-duty job for an officer to watch the line.
When my current co-worker was talking about it he was describing the food they served and I thought, ‘wow the homeless eat good.’ So I text a friend that still works dispatch and asked her if The Melting pot in that city was different from all the others. She said no same restaurant but they feed homeless there on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Guys, I had no idea The Melting pot was an actual restaurant. I thought is was a soup kitchen or some type of non-profit. I explained myself in the group chat after.
Then I get the text I posted above. I have a feeling this was some type of scammer but I can’t wrap my head around how they are scamming.
First I get the text asking who I am the number is in their contacts with no name, I responded. I don’t typically give out personal information to anyone, even people I know. You are seriously going to have to really pry it out of me or I am going to search you all over the internet.
What got me was I told her I didn’t know her and to have a nice day and she responded and I was going to just leave it at that, however, much later came the picture of that tree.
Readers, I got up from my desk in the middle of a work task and went outside and searched my front and back yard to make sure there wasn’t a person out there, then I blocked the number.
I am posting it here because I am about 80% sure it is some kind of scam and I want people to be aware, but I don’t know what kind of scam. I just think that after I told her to have a good day she realized she was going to have to pry a little more so she thought if she sent me some random picture I would keep replying. Therefore, I don’t know what scam it is because I didn’t give her a chance to try. Also, when I searched that number on the internet and Facebook it came back to several things but not one of them was a person named Mia.
Ok well, I don’t have anything left to talk about, just that I hope today is a little less exciting.
Everyone have a wonderful Friday.
