Something is bothering me and I’m trying to get over it, so I’m going to write about it today.
There is a social media site that WordPress links to, I won’t name it outright, but it’s about neighborhoods. Anyway I never look at it because whenever I do, all the posts are about lost pets or suggestions for someone to hire to fix something or trashing some contractor for the terrible job they did, or praising them for the great job they did and tons of ads for contractors or where you can get new windows.
It’s never anything interesting.
So Yesterday I was looking for my iRobot app and I saw this app, it looked different, I opened it, all that was different was there were rounded corners on the posts but the ads were still there and everyone was looking for a pet, or thinking someone taking a walk was suspicious.
Then I noticed I had messages on there. Something I didn’t even know the app was capable of because the few posts I did read there were comments there and a lot of them were very rude. A couple of the messages were from some random person who commented on my WordPress blogs which surprised me because I didn’t even know they were posting there. The other one was from a moderator.
The moderator told me 11 of my posts had been removed. They said that this site was not a blogging site, but they could direct me to a few blogging sites where my content would be more appropriate. They also said that now anything else that I posted would be considered spam and this site was about community engagement.
I responded, WordPress is the blogging site I use and they automatically link to other social media sites when you post and this site is one of them. I am just going to remove myself from this site, it is all ads anyway and those are what should be considered spam. Maybe you should contact WordPress? They can help you better than I can.
I deleted my account, the app, and removed the link from here after I answered. What bothered me the most was the comment that they promote community engagement. I guess my posts about Texas and things going on in Texas, the history I post with my dad’s stories also about Texas doesn’t support community engagement?
However, a lost pet does? Or where I can find a contractor? Yesterday when I scrolled through that’s all it was. I didn’t see anything about community events, the flooding in central Texas or anything relating to my neighborhood.
Also, I didn’t even know it was linked or that I even still had an account. I thought I had deleted it back during the pandemic because the posts on there from some people were extremely cruel and the comments were also. My name for it was the neighborhood bully site. It’s still living up to it’s name I guess.
I feel better now.
So today I am going to work, my vacuum cleaner belt should be delivered today by Amazon, and I am hoping there is actually a vacuum cleaner belt in the package. Then I can vacuum.
That’s all I have for today. Everyone have a great day.
