I feel slightly better today.
My head doesn’t hurt but my eyes are dry as a desert. Ugh illness. I spent most of the day yesterday sleeping and researching for my next Bull and Burro story.
I’ve got the story in my mind for the travel to Austin. It’s a fiction story but I am trying to make it historically accurate. This requires a lot of research. Things were vastly different in the 1800’s and people were different.
I guess that doesn’t really need to be said, but if the times now are all that you know, then imagining life with nothing but earth no roads, houses, cars or cell phones, it’s kind of tough. Especially since there are no living people now that were alive then who can explain what it was like.
There is a book that I am slowly reading called The Oregon Trail by a historian named Francis Parkman. It is his journal of travel on the Oregon Trail, but starts in Independence Missouri, not Texas, so I have to ask Google a lot of questions like ‘How did people get from Texas to Missouri in the 1800’s?’
It’s slow going but I am really enjoying doing the research and learning about Texas history.
After work today if my headache isn’t back I need to do some cleaning first, then I am going to do some work on the story. My boys will help me so it should go by pretty quickly.
That’s all for today. Enjoy your Wednesday.
