Woo Hoo! It’s Friday!

Yesterday we went to the water park. It was fun and I’m glad we did because we got out of the house and got some sun and went swimming.

The waterpark is run by our city so it’s not huge. They have three water slides, an area with diving boards, a huge area for small kids and a lazy river.

I spend all of my time when we go there in the lazy river.

I don’t have any appreciation for diving boards or water slides. I blame this on what happened to me when I was a teenager.

There is a place in Arlington Texas called Hurricane Harbor now but when I went there at the young age of 15 it was called Wet and Wild.

At first it was fun, we rode slides and ate food. Then, I went down a slide called Shotgun Falls. The name describes the slide, you would shoot out the end and there was about a foot drop from the bottom of the slide to the water. The water also shot down the slide and when it shot me out it also pushed me down and I had to struggle underwater before I made it back to the top. I almost drowned and it freaked me out so bad I didn’t ride any more water slides that day.

Then we went to the wave pool. At first it was fine because the waves hadn’t started. People were floating on inflatable rafts and inner tubes, then, the waves started.

I got stuck under someone’s inflatable raft the water wasn’t deep where I was but I had been in a part where I couldn’t touch the ground so I started to kick my legs really hard. I kicked the bottom of the pool with so much strength that I broke my toe. However, I was tough so I didn’t say anything and limped around in pain for the rest of my day there.

The next day my toe was swollen and purple, I kept it quiet for at least two more days before I said anything to my parents. I remember them freaking out about it and taking me to the doctor. They taped a cage on it and I had to wear sandals for awhile, which was fine, it was summer.

So yeah, since then, not a huge fan of water slides. I’m also not a strong swimmer and I have to hold my nose when I go underwater so those things may be contributing factors as well.

I don’t mind it now, my kids will go slide down the slides and I will just walk around the lazy river. I’m fine with that.
