In that order.
When cell phones became smart I found myself addicted to my phone. I was constantly using it, texting, playing games or calling people. It got to the point that I was becoming one of those annoying people that complained on social media from my phone about how people just look at their phones.
I had to put the phone down, so I started taking walks, but you can only walk so much. Then one day I was at Walmart of all places and I saw these learn to kits, learn to crochet, learn to knit, learn to burn wood etc.
I bought the learn to knit kit and I started knitting. I found patterns online, I bought yarn, and the monster was born. If I didn’t know how to do something, well, there is a YouTube video for that, and I would learn new skills that way as well.
That was in about 2013, 2014 I guess? I was a knitting pro by the time 2019 came around. I had knitting magazine subscriptions and so many printed out patterns. Then, 2020 came and the pandemic shut us all down. I still had to work because I was a police dispatcher, so I was an essential employee, but I couldn’t go anywhere, so while I was at home I started to clean things out, in my closet was the stack of patterns and magazines I had collected over the years.
I started to shred them and ended up with two very large bags of shredded paper. I thought I can’t throw this out, there is too much. So they just kind of sat in the corner of my front room for a very long time. Then, one day, I was watching a video of someone making pictures out of tile and I thought, ‘Can you do the same type of thing with paper?
You can.
And I did.
Which brings us to today, I have always been a writer, that’s what I’ve always wanted to do, so I am posting stuff every day just to get the thoughts flowing. I am working on a story now that I have kept up with. I would usually write a few paragraphs then put it down and never come back. I feel like this is my year to broaden my horizons though so that is what I will be doing.
Well that is all for today friends. I am glad you are here.
