What makes a good leader?

I had a supervisor where I work now that was one of the best supervisors I have ever had.

The reason why is because she listened, asked our opinions and genuinely cared about us and how we were doing. I was promoted while I was with her, and I truly feel that she was the driving force behind my promotion. She really did work for us, and she had our back.

Also she did not let you get away with anything. She let you know when you did something wrong and told you what she was going to do about it before it happened. I mean if you were going to get in trouble or if it was just going to be a warning, etc. Not that I ever got in to any trouble, but other members of my team did, and she made sure they knew the whole process.

Because of all of that she was a good supervisor, she was tough but only when she had to be tough. She also cared. I miss her.
